Kazoo! Festival – A music and art kick off to Spring in Guelph

Every spring Guelph becomes the heartbeat of Canadian independent music and visual art as the downtown core is taken over by Kazoo! Fest throughout five magical days. Venues around the city create a treasure map of unique performance spaces, housing some of the best up and coming artists from around the country.

The whole event is curated in such a way that there are artists for everyone. The programming includes literary events, film screenings, multimedia performances, visual art, and so much more. The festival annually features the Kazoo! Print Expo, always falling on the Saturday of the week, as a wide array of talent flock to a gymnasium sized room to showcase the beauty of visual art, print making, screen printing and many other hand crafted goods.

Kazoo! Festival is a not-for-profit arts organization that was once a small monthly music series founded by Guelph based musicians, multi-disciplinary artists and community organizers which has now grown into a much larger endeavor. Over the past 9 years Kazoo! has hosted over 200 shows, presenting well over 500 performers as part of their ongoing new-music series and hosted 8 annual festivals. They are extremely dedicated to supporting emerging musicians and building community in Guelph. The festival creates inclusive and diversely curated experiences that connect artists and audiences together in a wonderfully accessible and creative way.

It is a serious “don’t miss” event if you are thinking of heading to Guelph in April. If you are visiting any other time of the year, don’t worry Kazoo! still has you covered with their monthly programming of one-off shows. Visit their website for information on upcoming events!
