What I love about the Guelph Farmers’ Market is that people come together to support CoG Tourism Winter MArket-3our local farmers by purchasing their fresh fruits and vegetables. What I love about working at the Guelph Farmers’ Market is that I feel that I can be a part of supporting others to have a healthy lifestyle. I enjoy seeing folks buy local produce from our hard working farmers because by eating local foods we get more of our nutritional nutrients with the freshest food available. Remember ‘local’ is celebrated all year long at our market.

Local food that is in season in the month of June:

Fruit:

Apples

Cherries

Strawberries

Vegetables:

Asian Vegetables

Asparagus

Beans

Bok Choy

Broccoli

Cabbage

Cauliflower

Cucumber

Green Onions

Green Peas

Lettuce

Mushrooms

Onions

Peppers

Potatoes

Radicchio

Radishes

Rhubarb

Rutabaga

Snow Peas

Spinach

Sprouts

Summer Squash

Sweet Potatoes

Tomatoes

We should support our local farmers because it benefits all of us to have access to good local food. Local farmers work hard all year long to make sure we get the best and the freshest food available. In turn we are supporting them, which also lowers our ecological footprint.

Our Guelph Farmers’ Market map is now available online. Check out our farmers and see what and where they are selling at the Market! And check out this great video shot by Foodland Ontario at the Guelph Farmers’ Market celebrating Ontario’s fresh and local bounty!

Happy Local Food week and see you at the Market!
