The Ward & St. George’s – Guelph’s Neighbourhoods

St. Patrick’s Ward and the area known as St. George’s are historic neighbourhoods, steps from Downtown Guelph. Brimming with history and photo-worthy sites, you’ll see the bricks and mortar span from industrial lands to war-time homes, grand Guelph houses and new developments. The neighbourhood, which is home to the Italian Canadian Club and Red Chevron Club, boasts a multitude of highlights on your tour.

A little into video tour of The Ward and St. Georges neighbourhood.

Super Active

After a year of being sedentary in our homes, and watching every superhero movie available on streaming services, getting active again doesn’t have to be a drag. The Ward is the spot to feel like a superhero. Be like Spider-Man at the Guelph Grotto Climbing Gym, with lots of different types of climbing terrain in a controlled space. Perhaps you want to feel the power of Thor wielding Mjolnir? Riot Axe is the spot to try axe throwing. If The Flash is more your speed, challenge your muscles by climbing the 100 Steps, a feat that ends in an epic view overlooking the city. Take the leisurely route, and jog along the trails at York Road Park, including the Lattice Covered Bridge.

After a rewarding workout, complete the superhero experience by hopping over to the East End’s Infamous Eatery. Hulk out with one of their famous SMASHburgers.

Global Foodie Experience

The Ward features a series of unique foodie experiences. Enjoy the global flavours of Na-Ha Thai’s Kitchen, Café Greek Garden, Kirtida’s Kitchen and Angelino’s Fresh Choice Market. Hit up Laza Food and Beverage for a refreshing snack to go. If you’re looking for the brew scene, look no further than the locally-inspired drafts at Royal City Brewing. For a truly immersive historical experience, Spring Mill Distillery is steeped with history from the brick and mortar building to the crafting of their signature spirits.

Creating Culture

We eagerly await the return of live theatre, and when it’s safe to do, the Guelph Little Theatre is the place to be. Entertaining audiences since 1935, the theatre is a staple to Guelph’s cultural scene.

Before a show, enjoying shopping downtown, or hitting up Consign Your Curves, a plus size consignment store with a fantastic selection of apparel and filled with all the self-love you need.

The Ward & St. George’s is one of many neighbourhoods to explore in Guelph. Enjoy outdoor activities safely, support #GuelphShops, and rediscover the heart of the Royal City as you #ExploreGuelph.
