Tourism Business Workshop Series

Guelph Tourism is offering interactive, working sessions intended to foster an environment of collaboration among Guelph and Wellington County tourism industry partners. There will be four sessions on different dates with different focus areas: Identifying as a tourism business, Tourism Funding, Digital Excellence and Volunteerism. Each individual session will be guided by Visit Guelph staff and Special Facilitators to encourage dialogue among the participants about relevant topics.

Workshop #1: What does it mean to be a tourism business in Guelph?

  • This workshop will help your business understand what it means to be a tourism business in Guelph. We will be helping businesses understand how they fit within our tourism industry, business support available for tourism businesses, and providing an opportunity to network with like-minded tourism businesses. In this workshop we hope to spark ideas and partnerships to continue building Guelph’s tourism industry.

Workshop #2: Let’s talk tourism grants!

  • This workshop will introduce you to what goes into applying for grants, how to develop a successful grant application, what grants are available now and, in the future, and why you should take advantage of grants that are available.

Workshop #3: Digital Excellence for Tourism Businesses

Description:

  • This workshop will identify digital promotion opportunities for your tourism business and provide a hands-on opportunity to create and update business listings in real time. Digital platforms that will be explored include Google My Business, TripAdvisor, and Yelp, along with OpenTable and social media channels. You are encouraged to bring your laptop to the session and update your listings with the facilitator. Please refresh yourself with your business login information ahead of the session. Please also ensure your laptop is charged.
  • The session will be facilitated by Naheed Somji.

Workshop #4: Finding The Right Volunteer

  • This workshop will be a volunteer matching event connecting the local tourism industry with volunteers ready to help. Businesses are reminded to come prepared with your volunteer position needs and sign active volunteers up right on the spot. Are you looking to volunteer? Get ready to meet with businesses and organizations and discuss how you’d make a great volunteer! This is a great opportunity to network and find your dream volunteer position.
